Introducing ‘it’s everyone’s journey’ video transcript

Whether it’s a trip to the shops, a commute to work, or a journey across country, we should all be free to travel. To get from A to B easily.

But for some of us, this isn’t the case. The truth is, many disabled people don’t feel confident using public transport. In fact they’re 30% less likely to travel than non-disabled people, which impacts their access to jobs, health care and social occasions.

And it’s not just an infrastructure problem either.

1 in 4 disabled people say negative attitudes from other passengers prevent them from using public transport. With so many finding travel challenging, it’s clear that something needs to be done.

Introducing ‘it’s everyone’s journey’, a campaign from the Department for Transport and partners to achieve equal access for all on public transport.

The campaign aims to show how we can all play a part in making transport more inclusive. And how, collectively, we can create a more supportive travel environment.

But we can’t do it alone. We need your help.

Whether you’re a transport operator, disability group, or even a tech company, you can play your part.

With your support ‘it’s everyone’s journey’ will increase awareness of the issues faced by disabled travellers and improve their confidence to use public transport too.

There are lots of ways you can support the campaign including sharing stories and case studies, engaging with our content, and sharing the campaign assets through your channels.

With your help, we can make public transport more inclusive for everyone.

Because it’s everyone’s journey.
